There's no doubt that all of the complexity of HAM radio can be overwhelming. Not to mention the expense of higher end equipment. No need to worry when you order from us. We'll program our affordable, entry level radios to your specfied ZIP code and surrounding area. We'll also include a custom channel guide for your radio, so you can always key it in if needed.

Our radios aren't fancy, but make no mistake, they'll be there when you need them.  You could spend hundreds more on popular brands, but unless you're planning to dive into the hobby, it's hard to justify the high cost of brand name equipment.

With these radios you'll have a range of up to 8 miles without transmitting through a repeater. However, they have the ability to transmit much greater distances when utilizing repeater frequencies. Please note, HAM technology has the ability to cover great distances, but these radios will most likely be limited to your general region. Great distances are covered by use of much more powerful equipment and access to large antennas.

You don't need any sort of FCC license to listen in, but you'll need one if you want to transmit under every day circumstances, but there are exceptions for emergency scenarios.

Note: It is highly recommended to upgrade your antenna to achieve greater transmission distance. There are a multitude of options available online, or you can upgrade to our 15" Nagoya Whip Antenna.
